Aero collection — Made in Italy

Aero cycling kit.

Skinsuits, jerseys, socks and overshoes for racing and for riding fast.

Why aero matters

Most of the drag is you, not the bike.

On a road bike the rider makes up most of the drag — the figure usually quoted is 70 to 80 per cent — and it grows with the square of your speed. What you wear is the part you can change without changing your position. The Aero Skinsuit covers the torso in one piece, the Aero Socks work on the lower legs, and the Aero Overshoes close over the shoes.

Three questions about aero kit.

How much difference does aero kit make?

On a road bike the rider makes up most of the drag — the figure usually quoted is 70 to 80 per cent. Clothing is the part of it you can change without changing your position, and it matters more the faster you ride, because drag grows with the square of speed. We do not quote a watt figure: it depends on the rider, the position and the speed.

Why do aero socks and overshoes work?

For half of every pedal stroke your lower legs and feet move forward faster than the bike, so they meet the air at a higher speed than the rest of you. The textured fabric of the socks keeps the airflow close to the leg, which leaves a smaller wake behind it. The overshoes do a simpler job: they cover buckles, straps and vents with one smooth surface.

Skinsuit or jersey and bib?

A skinsuit is one piece, so there is no hem to lift and no gap at the waist. It also has less pocket space, by design. For a time trial, a criterium or a short race, take the skinsuit. For long days and everyday riding, a jersey and bib are easier to live with.
